Laidlaw Scientific - Connecting Science with Society
Laidlaw Scientific® provides statistical, research support, project management, and technical communications services to government, university, and federally-funded research organizations. This work helps bridge the gap between society and weather, climate, and energy research by enhancing understanding and usability of research and data for broader audiences.
Founded in 2018, Laidlaw Scientific builds on owner Emily Laidlaw’s extensive experience conducting economic and societal research on weather and climate topics; managing technical, data-driven building energy, alternative transportation, and sustainability projects; and creating and implementing scientific communications strategies across all these areas.
In addition to traditional research support, project management, and technical communications services, Laidlaw Scientific can also advise in the areas of program evaluation, organization management, relationship building/maintenance, and change management.
The expertise that Emily and her team possess spans many decades, and our projects and connections are distributed across the globe. Research areas that are particularly central to our work include:
Hazards, disasters, resiliency
Energy efficiency, alternative transportation, sustainable technologies
Building energy and sustainable development
Integrated Assessment Modeling and socioeconomic projections of a future world
Environmental justice and environmental inequality
Program evaluation and management
Communication of complex and often politically charged information.
We can help you translate complex information and data into understandable, usable information for the broader community.
